The History of Kovitz Shifrin Nesbit.
The firm that grew to become Kovitz Shifrin Nesbit opened its doors on May 1, 1983. Founder Jordan I. Shifrin, then a young attorney, was inspired to do something unique.
Historically, the image of a suburban attorney was a male lawyer handling real estate closings, quickie divorces, and fender benders.
Jordan's idea was to open a "downtown" style practice in the suburbs that provided quality legal services to businesses and full service representation of community associations.
The concept of a suburban law firm offering the same services as downtown law firms was rare at the time, but the new firm hit the ground running and never looked back.
In 1985, Jordan joined forces with several well-established, highly regarded Chicago attorneys, and eventually became known as Kovitz Shifrin & Waitzman.
Over the years, the firm recruited many highly talented lawyers, changed its name a few times and achieved formidable growth.
